Aunt Chilada's Hilton Head
We came in on a Monday night when the temperature had dropped twenty degrees in the past hour. The cheerful server showed us to a comfy table, we ordered, and had some family fun with a tv trivia game and consoles. The salsa and chips were plentiful, harmless, a little bland and lacking in salt. (Tarpon senior is well known for having a heavy salt palate. ) Tarpon junior was excited to see Jarrito's sodas on the menu. The menu lists traditional Tex Mex fare along with low country boil and seafood specialties: this was a nice touch. Mexican street corn for 6$ came with a happy 4 pieces on sticks slathered in chili lime cilantro butter and delightfully charred. Tarpon senior, a cilantro "soaper", doused these in salt and devoured hers. Everyone else seemed happy as is. Other items were satisfactory: bacon avocado burger, beef enchiladas, steak and shrimp tacos. Prices were reasonable and different size appetites were well accommodated. Peanut butter pie was reviewed by junior as " super good". A pleasant and relaxing environment.
The Smokehouse review
Hi friends, Tarpon here, and today we are reviewing The Smokehouse on
Hilton Head Island, SC. We went there after a long day of hiking and it totally changed our mood. The Butt and Bones platter was large enough to feed three people but in reality I ate the whole thing, minus the ribs. The pulled pork is perfectly seasoned, but I would say there needed to be more of everything. The fries were perfectly sized, seasoned well, and crispy skinned while still being fluffy and soft on the inside. The coleslaw dressing, we deducted, contained poppyseed dressing and possibly vinegar. I would rate this a 4.5 out of 5 because there was not enough ribs, coleslaw, or pork. Next time you visit Hilton Head, be sure to drop in and tell us about the experience!

Hey guys! TARPON here. Welcome to our blog :-)
We are a mother and teen daughter who share a love of food and cooking. We live in different cities and are on a mission to try, sample, taste, and cook foods from across the globe, even if we cant always physically travel worldwide. We hope other family members will join us on our adventures, too.
We chose the name for this blog of a fish that lives in the Atlantic and Indo-Pacific Oceans. (Our family lives on both US coasts and all across the country). It can thrive in fresh, brackish, and salt water, in open sea or in saltmarsh or river. These are habitats for our diverse, adaptable, and resilient family, too.
Also, it tastes good, too.
We're happy you've looked in on our adventure!
Adios,
TARPON
